President's Message

Part of the connection that creates change this year for our ILEA chapter is finding a way our chapter gives back and partners with a local organization that is making an active change in the plight of homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area.  I look as our chapter as a “family” and one that supports each other during the best times and when it gets rough.  It is a fact that, with one unexpected circumstance - fire, flood, earthquake, accident - can put a person at economic risk resulting in the loss of their home.

Raphael House is an organization started in 1971, who see homelessness as a temporary state that doesn’t define a person. Homelessness can result from unexpected circumstances, whether economic, health-related, or because of a breakdown in family structure. They are providing  families an opportunity to take ownership of their futures and improve the quality of their lives through a nurturing and supportive process.

We are starting by supporting Raphael House with any donations of some simple goods listed below:

  • New children's clothing and shoes (year round)
  • New children's toys and books (year round)
    • Examples can be found here on our Amazon wishlist . These toys and books are used for Birthday gifts throughout the year. We celebrate over 100 children's birthdays each year. We are also always looking for Teen Gifts (needed items include books and board games for 15-18 year olds)
  • Birthday Party Supplies (year round)
  • Full sized toiletries  (year round)
  • New pots, pans, and cookware (year round)
    • Used as move out gifts for families moving into their own homes

We will then continue our support of Raphael House throughout the remainder of the year, including December 19th as we will have volunteer slots available for ILEA members to come and donate their time at Raphael House wrapping holiday gifts for the families staying at the home.

Connect. Create. Change.
