With fall fast approaching, we’re left wondering, where did Summer go?! Although, for San Francisco, our warm weather months are just beginning, along with wedding and conference season and everything that keeps us all wonderfully busy. I recommend taking some time for yourself on Tuesday, September 19th and join us as we mingle, sip, and educate ourselves on the topic of space, presented by Fritha Knudsen, Independent Producer for DreamForce and Virgin Galactic. Early Bird Registration closes TOMORROW Wednesday, September 13th!
You've probably seen the terrible destruction left behind by Hurricane Harvey, and most recently Hurricane Irma. We also have fires roaring throughout the nation. With all this destruction it’s been so heartwarming to see the kindness and generosity of so many.
ILEA-NCC would like to join this cause, and through our Charitable Giving Program support our fellow Events Industry professionals in need. Help us by donating to The SEARCH Foundation, a charitable organization that directly funds live event, meetings, and hospitality professionals in crisis. They are a trusted organization and are able to donate 100% of money raised to those in need. We will have donation stations at our September Education Program, please take a moment and join us in this cause! #ILEAGivesBAck #ILEARelationships #ILEATeamwork
Don’t forget to follow your dreams, work hard, and get things done!
Our next ILEA-NCC Educational Program is on September 19, 2017 from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Fort Mason Center.
Beyond Four Walls: The Challenge of Space
When you take over a city, like DreamForce does, you have to design experiences with urban challenges. When you take over a desert, like Virgin Galactic, you get a whole other set of challenges. Listen to a producer of both to see how building experiences in unique spaces comes with its own set of rewards and challenges.Fritha Knudsen, Independent Producer: DreamForce, Virgin Galactic
Fritha's life in events began in the theatre, as a Costume Designer and Costume Director. The scope was big, the audience discerning and the budget small – all a perfect match for the transference of skills to corporate events.
Fritha was fortunate to have been the Director of the Swatch Olympic Project in Atlanta 1996, managing a $120 million sponsorship followed by 2010 Vancouver Games as a Producer of the Official Olympic Film in 3-D.
Tapping into Fritha's love of science & space are the events for Virgin Galactic - from the unveil of SpaceShip One and SpaceShip Two, to the dedication of Spaceport America and an upcoming “Glamping” adventure for the great Eclipse of 2017.

ILEA LIVE RECAP
This year's recipient of the ILEA Live member opportunity was Roah Quisao. She traveled to beautiful Calgary (alongside many other ILEA NCC members). Check out what she had to say about this opportunity here.
Some of her takeaways from the experience include:
"There’s a voice inside our heads that create scenarios of why we shouldn’t challenge the status quo or ourselves."
"Trying to implement another company’s personalities and cultural norms as your own can be stressful because it is not your organizational personality."
"If what you are offering doesn’t become interactive [and isn’t an experience], you risk being left behind."
